Icon mugs

The Icon series was introduced in 2008. It succeeded the 1994 collector series, which was discontinued. The Icon series would become very popular with more than 400 different city mugs. The mugs were discontinued in North America in 2013 and replaced by the YAH ('You Are Here') series. In the rest of the world the fade out of the Icon series went gradually, starting in 2016. For example in Europe some cities started to carry YAH mugs, while in Mexico and China new Icon mugs were introduced. South Africa released a new icon and YAH mug on the same day in 2016! Malaysia, Mexico, Germany, China, Jamaica, and Guatemala issued new icon mugs in 2017.

The Icon mug Slovakia version 2, which unexpectedly surfaced on February 18th, 2019. This mug was already produced in 2017. Same story for the Turks & Caicos Islands icon in 2021 (produced 2017). But the latter never reached the tropical island.

Penang and Sabah versions 2 surfaced on August 31th, 2020.

Starbucks also issued demitasse mugs and thermoplastic mugs (tumblers) with the icon design.

Beware: fake Icon mugs exist.
